A good thing...
About Hotlanta...
You can get out of it... FAST!
No... seriously, you can. See, we went hiking yesterday, out to a falls and an old confederate mill. Took the dog and the binoculars. It was so cool, and reminded me that there are reasons to stay here. Not many cities with 5 million people where you can drive from your intown home to a waterfall hike in 20 minutes.
I'm doing a better job of doing the things I like. Trying to cook, go to the farmer's market, hike, grill out, eat brunch with the Sunday paper, etc. I remembered something... that we make our own fun. That very little of "where we are" has much to do with where we are.
Also, I remembered a bad lyric from one of my own bad country songs:
The place you choose for standing
Won't change the way you stand...
But you blame lack of balance
On this sturdy piece of land.
Sometimes it's good to go back and revisit old lessons, relearn them.
In other news, I'll be leaving for California again.

Did you go up to Sope Creek in Marietta? I grew up down the street from there; we used to hang out there all the time, by the river.... It's gorgeous, & if you're in for long hikes & mountain biking, even better! The trails stretch for ever: kudzu taller than two people, lovely. Good for you!
My guess is she went to Sweetwater Creek Park, out I-20. I would also recommend Kennesaw Mountain, which is surprisingly nice, despite it being in Kennesaw. I'll have to check out Sope Creek sometime.
