What Jim said...

And what Ron said too...

I don't know much about "post-avant" or old-school. I'm still battling "narrative" myself, inside myself. I think Ron knows a ton. I think his love of poetry is pretty clear, and I admire that. I admire his devotion. I admire his criticism.

But Jimmy gets me excited. Whatever he says, I'm inclined to shout out after him, "Yeah, what HE said!"

What I love about what Jim is saying is the skee-ball-aspect of poetry. The HOORAY! The poems-every-day-or-two. Same to Shanna, and Tony, and Jordan. Same to all the folks I know online. There does seem to be something in the air, whirling around the blogopoets, whirling inside blogopoetics. And I want to be a part of that.

I'm not bothered by Ron's terminology. Everyone has a right to choose their own. But I'm with Jimmy! Let's make up our own words. Isn't that what we do?

I hate supercession, and the opposite of supercession, whatever that's called. As a Jew I'm always trying to explain to people why "B.C." and "Old Testament" are offensive terms. I think "post-avant" is offensive in the same way.

Because I'm just doing my thing here, just writing some fucking poems, and while I can't ignore my tradition, the history of poetry, I'm not addressing it either.

Poetry addressing poetry is boring. I think it's called criticism.

I like poems about sex and people and rocks and jade plants and chickens. Poems about poems make me yawn most of the time.

So yeah, I'm not post-anything I don't think. Except maybe post-lunch. And pre-nap.

Blogopets Hooray! Skeeball for everyone indeed!
