Exciting and eventful...

Saturday...


Today I drove twice to the City of Iowa City landfill, which is way better than it sounds. The drive was nice and the day was balmy. We went over the river and through the woods, passing the poor farm, which is interesting. In nineteenth century Iowa, when you were destitute and debted, they didn't send you to the jail or the workhouse, but to a pretty little farm where you could earn your keep.

Pretty fucking smart, right?

Also today I made a beet/pecan/spinach salad, a cucumber salad, a potato salad with scallions and mint, and tuna salad. Becauyse this week promises to be so busy I won't have time to cook.

Tonight... should I see Van Helsing or the incomparable Dick Dale at Gabe's Oasis? Tell me what to do!
